Perfect Aloo Paratha Recipe
Ingredients:
For the Dough:
2 cups whole wheat flour
½ tsp salt
Water (as needed)
1 tsp oil (optional)
For the Filling:
3 large potatoes (boiled and mashed)
1 small onion (finely chopped)
2 green chilies (finely chopped)
2 tbsp fresh coriander leaves (chopped)
½ tsp red chili powder
½ tsp cumin powder
½ tsp garam masala
½ tsp dry mango powder (amchur)
Salt to taste
For Cooking:
Ghee or butter (for frying)
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Dough
In a large bowl, mix whole wheat flour and salt.
Gradually add water while kneading to form a soft, smooth dough.
Add 1 tsp oil for extra softness (optional).
Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for 20 minutes.
2. Prepare the Filling
In a mixing bowl, combine mashed potatoes, chopped onion, green chilies, and coriander leaves.
Add red chili powder, cumin powder, garam masala, amchur, and salt.
Mix well to make a flavorful, lump-free filling.
3. Assemble the Paratha
Divide the dough into equal portions and roll into small balls.
Flatten one dough ball slightly and roll it out into a small circle.
Place a generous spoonful of potato filling in the center.
Bring the edges together to seal the filling, forming a pouch.
Flatten the pouch gently and roll it out into a paratha (approx. 6-8 inches). Use light pressure to avoid tearing.
4. Cook the Paratha
Heat a tawa or skillet over medium heat.
Place the rolled paratha on the hot tawa. Cook until bubbles appear, then flip.
Apply ghee or butter on both sides and cook until golden brown and crispy.
Repeat with the remaining dough and filling.
Serving Suggestions:
Serve your aloo parathas hot with:
A dollop of butter
Yogurt or curd
Pickle of your choice
Green chutney
